(Character related post going over our current completion of our first vampire story in this new chronicle.)
Looking back over the last few days I have to say this. One hundred percent fucked. It's just going to happen. The good news is, we got the job done, the bad news is, we got the job done. I'll explain.
So we all hook up after meeting with Gabrielle, bent on finding out something about this Carl Vauchs. Halloway ends up with dead ends i guess, because he comes back with nothing. Wasn't sure if Vauchs would still have some loose ties in with his cash, but he was pretty much off the grid as far as that goes, otherwise i'm sure Halloway would have found it. Lisa comes back with something about him being in the bowery district, she comes back with a new cell phone too, my gut tells me she stole it, cause she's still wearing the same shit she had on before. I let it be 'cause its not that big of a deal, so long as she keeps her petty crimes away from the rest of us I wont have to take action. Not that i'd bust her or nothing, but i might have to slap some sense into her if she gets out of line. Crimes have a way of finding there way back to you, and being in the state we are, we got to play things so we stay off the mortal grid as much as possible. I dont mind pulling some strings to help these guys out, but that in and of itself might cause some questions to pop up too. As for Cowboy, well I didnt expect anything and thats pretty much what i got. Expectations fulfilled. Aside from his fame this guys worthless in info gathering. Glad we weren't hand picked to do investigating for Gabrielle. Oh wait. So we get our notes together, and I pull some strings and find that he was staying where Lisa had said, up in the bowery, in some not so nice flat. Also we got the make of his car. For the hell of it i had Juarez pull some of the little low life junkies and sellers off the street to lighten the load, was hoping for some luck and getting a few of Vauch's tough guys. Once we get to the place we make our way upstairs and to the room. The place should be torn down, its a piece of crap place with people that fit the mold. I've been to this area on a few investigations, and i'm not suprised at the location at all. Now, i should note, for sanity's sake, that my blood starts doing something at this point. Its like a low growl in the back of my mind, and as i go into this place it becomes almost a constant. I heard the term beast from Gabrielle, and I think my beast and my blood are cousins, cause they usually do shit together. Regardless, the beast is talking to me, but i cant understand it. Its telling me to do something though, or to follow it. Crazy i know. So i swallow all that and we get to Vauch's door. Knock Knock, not home. We use an old fashioned key, the kind that breaks doors. Some fat ass from down the hall comes out and makes some noise, Lisa chats him up, but the guys worthless. I say something to him and he shuts up. Seeing a guy in nice clothes, a drifter girl, a cowboy and a cop together is probably enough on its own. So we head inside and look around. Lisa has a good eye, and i'm guessing she's had training. I'll probably give her a few pointers, cause i have a feeling my own capabilities might start slipping as my blood and beast start moving the rest of there things in. Vauch's has some pit bulls in his bedroom, starved and mean, good dogs though, so I get 'em some food and something to bite and take there frustrations out on. I'm pretty good with abused animals, and these things just need something to tear into. We check the place and can find nothing except for alot of trash, filth, and oh yeah, a map with markers of who Vauch's has hit, and who's next. This guy was going down and he knew it, theres no way a guy is so blatant about his plans as to post them on his wall, he had a schedule to keep, and this last marked one would be his last. So we head over to this place, a construction site, and its about a third done i'd say. Black car in front, and the inside looks like something out of a bondage movie. Reminds me of my ex a little. We start moving in, being as quiet as we can, and it happens again. Theres this growling in my mind, though it sounded like it was right beside me. I can understand it this time though, at least a little, it wants to help, wants me to do things properly. It just wants a little control. I heard about this from one of the gangrel Gabriell introduced me too, said it was like a frenzy, but not. Said that it could happen to me, or it might not. My clan, we are all about clarity. So i say what the fuck, and i feel it step into me, thats the best way to describe it. I can see a haze of blood around the corners of my eyes, and i feel the beast telling me where and how to step, cause i'm normally not the most graceful of guys if you can believe it. But now, I feel more like a predator, like a kind of animal myself. I lose sight of lisa and the others, even though i know they are right beside me, or at least close. What i do see is Vauchs and a few of his cronies hanging out around a big pit they've dug out in the concrete. Normally i'd go up and try and tackle this guy, keep the gunshots to a minimum so we have more time. I'm not thinking like that, those artificial instincts are gone. I feel the cool metal in my hands from the shotgun, and suddenly i'm sinking to my knee, and line up a shot at his legs. I start the fight by clipping Vauchs on the side of the leg. The beast doesnt like the sound, and i drop the shotgun as Vauchs turns and shoots me in the chest with his shotgun. The guys cool, quick, and he shrugged that pain off like it was nothing. Lucky me, i'm wearing my vest. I think some of it goes through, but even if i was still breathing that shot could have been one i'd walk away from. The others jump into action. Cowboy starts firing off rounds at one of the junkies, and Count Halloway uses his command to make one of them fall on his face. Got to make sure not to look him in the eye after all. Now lisa, thats something else. I didnt catch her with everything going on, but one second she's sneaking up to one of them, and the next that guys running for his life, screaming like a mad man. She's gotta be a haunt. So i close in on Vauchs and me and him start fighting it out, I cant seem to land anything, and my beast wants me to flick those claws out and tear his head off. Thats not the plan though, so I keep the beast back on this one. Whats hillarious is when Halloway starts in on him, moving forward and taking some swings at him. Is this guy for real. He's taking swings at a trained killer, the real deal, with what looks like boxing jabs. Jesus Christ this guys going to get himself killed. So Vauchs ignores him, which i'd do the same, and stabs me in the chest with a stake. This guys fucking strong. I mean fucking strong. I feel my vest give and buckle, and then i feel pain. Right when i think i'm fucked the vest catches, and i have enough time to knock the thing out of my chest. He runs for it, but doesnt get far. I dont know what it was, or what happened, but Cowboy just kinda looked his way, said something, and Vauchs stopped. Second guessing himself. I felt it too man, some kind of pull, something tugging at my mind. Then my beast is barking at me, so i'm off, back to business. I swing again but the fucker does a great block. Halloway comes at him and i about piss myself laughing as Vauchs pushes him out of the way like some kind of distraction, but i have things to do, and this has to stop soon. Gunfire means cops, or at least we're going to attract onlookers. I give it everything i have, coming at him from the side, and this time i get him. His shades pop off and clatter to the ground and i see his eyes roll back in his head. Game over, we won. Oh wait. So we get ahold of Vauchs and lift him up, and along comes Robert. The prick sherrif. He says we did a good job, but he's being as condescending as possible. He says to take the ghoul back to gabrielle, but that we should leave now. A couple of his own chronies start picking up shovels, my guess is to finish the job that Vauchs was doing. We get out of there. I call Juarez and ask her to give me a hand and bring some trouble to robert, or at least to give the guy a hard time, but it appears Robert has some FBI buddies. fantastic. My beast is hypnotized by the ride back, i'm fucking lucky i didnt crash the car. So at the Wine Cellar they have me take Vauchs down. Gabrielle tells us to go home and come back early tomorrow. It takes me almost until sunrise, but i finally convince my beast to move back into the shadows, to leave me alone for a bit. I actually miss him riding along with me, but i cant think straight with him around me like that. So with a whine and a whimper, he moves back, but close enough that i can call when i need him. Oh yeah, vampires, we dont get along with animals. They hate us, even Ben and Jerry would growl at me until i fed them. They sense the death on us, sense that we're not that nice ole master we used to be, but something that might decide to kill them and eat them if it gets too hungry. But tonight they were fine, just like old times, and I could understand them too. Could get the jist of there instincts. That beast of mine, doing me some more favors i guess. So i settle down and wake up, do a little feeding (which involves a fake shakedown to someone that probably has it coming anyways) and then go back to the Wine Cellar to finish this little mission. Oh wait. So gabrielle tells us that this ghoul Vauch's has broken his vinaculum. Its a tie your blood makes on other people if they have a chance to drink it. Thats what Gabrielle told me anyways. She says theres little useful information in him. She then asks us to escort him to Prince Cameron's estate. Fuck you psycho. I keep that part to myself, Gabrielle is something for the Carthians, and she's one bitch i really dont want to fuck with. Everyone says she's great, and so nice. I dunno. I have a feeling that heart of hers is just as black and tainted as the prince himself. She has something planned, i can feel this, and she doesnt want us to know yet, so I just nod and say sure. Whats the worst that could happen. So we get Vauchs and i put him the car with my dogs, they growl, but there well trained and wouldnt bite him unless i gave the say so. He comments on them, being nice animals, then asks me to set his two dogs free when i get time. I was planning on it anyways, and thats what i tell him. I know he's going to die, and he knows this too. Part of me feels sorry for his situation, but the guy had it coming. He's got stained hands and the eyes of a killer. Justice has a way of catching up to you. No matter who or what you are, things come back around, and this was his time, his time to pay up. So we get him into the princes manor. Nice place actually, cant really talk to much shit about it, he's made a nice little place for himself. We get Vauchs inside and watch the Prince chide him and then send him off. The prince then asks us some questions. Halloway is a fucking riot. His nose is stuck so far up this guys ass that its not even funny. He's no carthian, Halloway's invictus. He might not think it yet, but he is, its only a matter of time before he turns. He told us that we should know our place, keep our mouths shut, and obey him in most matters present. Sound carthian to you? me either. So after they scoop bullshit into each others mouths and it looks like the prince is about to make stage left, I drop the question i've been waiting all night to ask. I play it smooth too, asking him if he knew about Vauch's ability break the vinaculum. Hah, you should have seen his face. Priceless. We're escorted out shortly after. And shortly after that, as i'm pulling out and getting ready to leave, good ole Robert shows up to give me a nice little threat. We go back and forth until both of our beasts are starting to show, and then he backs off with one last little warning. Me and him. One day. I can only hope that things turn out that way. After that we leave and go back home, We report to the Wine Cellar the next day, give our reports, and Gabrielle tells us to lay low for a while and let things cool down. I think she won a point or two with us, and she seems happy. I'll leave halloway's actions out of her ears for now. She probably already knows anyways.

Some gaming stuff
This post is just dedicated to some of my general gaming past. My gm has posted a wonderful history of his own gaming so far (needs to update) and it got me thinking. I dont really want to go that far back in my history, but i do like going over some of my past greats and hates, so i'll share some of that with you readers.
Gamers - I've had many gamers, and all of them have been friends of mine. Brandon and Scott were two of my earliest gamers, and both really great friends of mine. We got started into really old D&D and let me tell you nothing beats the feeling of playing first addition, there was something to it that none of the other additions ever got. Not saying it was the best, no way in hell, it just had a feel to it that made it memorable. We also played and ran alot of Battle Tech and similar rpg's usually under Brandons G.M.ing. Scott was almost exclusively a Dungeons and Dragons player, but didnt last long into high school unfortunately. Jason and Aaron were also gamers of mine, and i used to torture them non stop with some of my more sinister dungeon and dragons campaigns. They seemed to enjoy themselves, and we had alot of fun, which was the point. Chris was one of my later gaming buddies, and along with jason are the two only old school gamers I still game with. Me and Chris got along due to our similar age and gaming experience. He was far better at story telling than I was and had fresh ideas all the time. It was also nice being able to be a player, i had been a D.M. for the most part and never really got a chance to play, and chris actually wanted to D.M. so it worked out perfect. Melissa and Matt came in to my life as a gamer during the same year or close to it, both were excellent at role playing. Not saying the others were no good at it, these two just had a way to create characters and really make them stick. One of the last players i was introduced to was Karl. Me and him became good friends and I eventually got him into our gaming group. Fantastic roleplayer, and he has a real talent for telling stories. He was also great at creating fresh character concepts, and very memorable moments during his gaming career with us. I only wish we could have gotten some campaigns out of him before he left Ohio. My newest friend gamers are Matt and Steve, both of which have awesome potential, and are turning out to be great friends as well, nice to know that even as i edge towards the middle of my life I still get to make good gaming contacts and friends.
My Campaigns - I have ran tons of campaigns and been in just as many. One i ran for my friend brandon was probably one of my favorites. I created a marvelous fantasy world for his paladin, and had some great npc's at the time. Jason and Aaron both got to delve into this world as well, and it was my primary fantasy world for at least a few years. Unfortunately I never got to use it with many of my other friends and gamers. I had what i like to consider a fairly good werewolf chronicle. Had some great characters in it. One thing I believe is a strength is my ability to take basic stories, and upon meeting the characters in that story, open up and tailor my world around the heroes. I'm not the best storyteller, but i think i'm pretty good at guaging player expectations, and knowing what is fun and not fun. Though believe me i've made my mistakes. Jason actually had alot of characters in my worlds, and i loved putting them through hell. Ha! sometimes literally. I miss DM'ing sometimes, and then again, in some respects, i dont miss it at all.
Other Campaigns - Wow. So many. My first big chronicle was under Scott, and it was a great set of stories. My character in that one was Lorik AstralBound, an elven wizard. Brandon never really ran any campaigns that stuck in my mind, but he had a presence as a player that was unforgettable, still wish he was gaming with us. Great friend. Karl ran a TNMNT game that i'll always remember, I played Sharp, a blue jay mutant, and Chris played Angry Jack, a wolverine or badger mutant. That was alot of fun. Chris had a couple of chronicles that are in my favorites, his forgotten realms chronicle was absolutely fantastic, and I hope to capture that type of D&D feel again in my life time. My character was Shen Morningkill of the mockingbird tribe of bladesingers. Karl, Jason and melissa had characters in that as well, and it was nice because it had a real team feel to it. Chris also ran a Werewolf chronicle that I loved. I played an albino metis uktena theurge named Shallow Ghost. Was a great chronicle with alot of great characters, the story was absolutely fantastic. It did put a pretty big drain on our GM though. Heh. His Dark Ages chronicle was a very intense and dark fantasy-rp set of adventures that will be hard for him to top. His storytelling in that campaign and just the direction of his stories were well thought out, and not only was full of powerful moments, it was also very intelligent. Then again I was playing alongside Meliss and Matt, two very intelligent gamers in there own right. Really wish Karl would have been around to get in on that one. My one on one Campaign with Anzari Shadowcloak was great. That was my first taste of Chris's unique fantasy world, and ever since i've been the biggest petitioner of him not doing away with it, as he's had thoughts about it from time to time. Another great D&D chronicle was set in his world. I played Kalith the Incanter in that one. Jason had a great character in that one, one of the first times i saw him shine as a player. He played a psion, Reinor. Chris did some great stories around another character of Jasons, a mage. The stories he did for us, especially the solo mage stories were fantastic. Melissa and Karl played changelings!
What could have been - Been on MANY starter campaigns that petered out before there time. The one I regret the most is a Sabat Chronicle ran by chris. That thing was just alot of fun. Wish it would have lasted longer, but werewolves ate us. Chris's Halloween stories. Fantastic idea we kept up for a few years. Mostly Sabbat chronicles. A big D&D one that ended all too soon had to do with really well thought out characters of me and jasons. I played a conjurer and he played a knight. We never should have left that chronicle, it had so much energy and potential. That is one i will definitely regret not finishing.
Favorite Gaming type - Fantasy for the most part, though world of darkness may make a come back. The new games seem to be pretty good. If nothing else it will be a great break from our fantasy gaming from time to time.
Regrets in gaming - 4th edition. That book is one half awesome and one half awful. Really though, I can agree with all of my friends, you just cant go back to 3.5 E once you've gotten into 4e, its just too convenient and easy to pick up and play. I look forward to more chronicles with the system though. Our current g.m. can easily come up with games that make the most out of systems he's given. I also regret the fact that miniature gaming is too damned expensive. I love the idea soooo much. just cant aford the cost or the time.
Some of my favorite characters!
Aram the Tree Devil - Elven Warlock
Anzari Shadowcloak - Human Warlock - yeah i know-
Rafal Lucegro - Bad ass Tzimisce
Shendolen Morningkill - Elven Bladesinger
Urith Konrad - A knight cohort that protected one of my characters
Morpheus - Native american Cult of Ecstacy mage -
Kalith the Incanter - Human Wizard
Shallow Ghost - Werewolf
Plotius - Shadowlord Werewolf. Got some flak for playing this guy a little over the top on a few rp sessions, but i really liked that character.
Aerivane - Human Conjurer
Bleeding Stone Tiger (BST) - My Khan. Was a fantastic campaign too!
I am sure there are others i'm forgetting.
Ok, that was just a general little gaming post, hope you guys enjoyed!

Chapter one Info
(Character related post dealing with our new chronicle -Name it!- This is from a character perspective and some info can and will be left out in case its Game sensitive material.)
-By the by gm, story was great and keep it up. Two thumbs up from this kid. Wasnt honestly enthused about doing it, but I have alot of juice going into it now. I forgot how much i missed the rp. Great session =)
You know, being a detective, you can see things that others cant. Being a Gangrel, well, you can kind of feel things that others cant, something in the gut. Hell, maybe other clans get it too, not sure, but i havent seen that "look" from any other clans yet. Dont get me wrong, I'm not mr. vampire over here, and I still dont know shit about shit. One thing i can tell you though after tonight, with one hundred percent certainty, I. Am. Fucked.
So I go to a party right, A fourth of july party. Sounds fun I know. Lots of rain too which made the night pretty fucking pointless. But hey, cant really say no to this type of party. The hostess is the real deal, looks that a man could kill for, and the presence of someone thats way out of your fucking reach. Gabrielle is her name, and she leads us, the Carthians. I know I know, me the big politician. In all honesty, I really didnt have many places to go. The invictus runs the show, there dicks about it too, and make it a point to piss everyone else off. Not my kind of thing. Sure I like pushing people around, but its gotta be for a real reason and purpose, not just for kicks. Its gotta solve a problem, not make more. These guys think out of there asses, not with there head or there guts. So, cant fit in there. The crones are kind crawling with my clan members. I cant wrap my head around it though. Fucking witches or pagans or something. The Dragons are another group of crazies that I cant even come close to understanding. Then theres the whole religious party thats pretty much as pointless as real churches. Man all i need right now is more fucking guilt. That would fix a whole lot of nothing. So its the Carthians. They have ideas for change in the city, to make the other vampires happier. I kinda dont believe this bullshit for the simple fact that really, not one vampire i've met has been happy. But hell if it can make things a bit easier i'm in. That and they really want you to stay on board with your mortal pals, which is good, because i have alot. Yeah i know, I'm the glue of the movement. So i'm off the point a bit, but Gabrielle throws this party, and I go to it. I know its pretty much an appointment more than a party. I havent been to many of the meetings at the Cellar, and I gotta have some face time. Hard to make friends among our kind. I still dont have any. Maybe its my charm. So the first thing she does is introduce me to a few other vampires. I've seen them before you know, but I really dont play much in investigating or getting to know my own kind. Its a dangerous business from what i've heard. These other kindred are neonates like me though. Neonate. That means were green and dont know shit I guess. So I get introduced to this suit named Jacob Halloway. I know him from a case i did on his partner some years back. I'm playing the fool on what i know, mostly because he's a lord and I dont want him making me think i'm a fucking mouse. Dont know if he has that much pull, but I dont want to press my luck yet. I heard tales to stay away from them, and to not look them in the eye, and for now thats what i plan on doing. Guys a typical suit who's made his way. Full of bullshit and confidence. Not many of his clan in the carthians, so I wont be suprised if he makes alot of enemies, which is great, because since i'm getting paired up with him I'll have his enemies too. Yeah, fucking fantastic. He talked about a few things but i didnt pay too much attention, most of it was just to show us how cool he was. Over forty and its like i'm back in high school. He's powerful though i'm sure. No one with that much confidence and that nice of a suit gets to his position without being able to do something. Also in our little group was a cowboy. AJ, yeah thats what i said. Who? That country singer from a ways back that sang a song that alot of people talked about. Right, your seeing things now. A fucking superstar businessman who will make us tons of enemies, and a fucking country singer who probably every one knows, and alot of people hate. The guys ok though, he sang a couple of good songs, definitely knows his music, but i cant see him being much use in our little coterie. Coterie, thats vampire for gang. So the last of our merry little group was a chick named Lisa. Looked like a regular kid to me. Early twenties, nothing really special about her. The other two i got pegged. The cowboy is a Daeva, and the businessman is a Ventrue. Little miss normal i'm not so sure. Maybe a Mekhet, there called shadows, and they kind of have members all over the place. Not a daeva or a ventrue, i'm pretty sure of that. Gaunts are really ugly from what i've heard, and she was hanging out near them when i came into the party. Could be one of them I guess. Doesnt really matter, from what i can tell she's smart, and really shy. Too fucking shy to last much longer in this world. I saw something in her eyes when we were talking, something afraid, terrified, and man, I wouldnt be lying if something in my blood wanted her to run. Anyways Gabriell takes us all back and tells us we're working for her. No happy 4th of july or nothing. We're right to work too, some ghoul is causing some problems and we have to track him down and bring him back. He's hanging out with a gang, so that actually might make things a bit easier. Regardless this isnt going to be easy. I have a feeling this is a test from our leader, she's getting into some pretty intense shit, and she's going to need alot of people defending her and watching her back if the Carthians stand a chance in New York. Nice to know she's going to be leaning on us. Makes sense too. We do this little deed and our names get mentioned. Fantastic i know. Totally fucked. But you know, my blood, it wants this. I can feel it inside, just coiling in excitement. I cant explain it more than that, but I do know that whatevers going on in there isnt gonna stop because of this, its gonna grow. I wish to fuck I knew someone who could tell me about this shit. Maybe it wont matter, maybe these punks will blow my head off tomorrow and that'll be the end of Detective Crawford. Well, now its back home, get to listen to Ben and Jerry growl at me some, they get pissy at me when i'm like this. I can almost feel there anger and frustration, I swear to god i can. I hear my clans good with beasts, maybe its just my blood, making its move again. Maybe i'm just going fucking crazy too.
(Ok, thats it, i'll have more posts related to my character soon)
New Character!
(This is a post describing my new character for Vampire. The story starts wed, but i want to get a head start on stepping into my characters shoes. Bellow i'll describe a little bit about who my character is, and what the dots mean.)
Name - James Crawford / James comes from a small family based out of New York. Most of his relatives and close family live in new York, and both his mother and father are buried there. He had one brother, but he died the year before James was embraced, killed by an unlucky car accident.
Concept - Ace Detective / Became a police officer right out of high school. Even as a rookie he had an edge and intelligence to him that made him a cut above the rest. He's well respected among his peers for getting promoted to Detective instead of having it handed to him due to a college degree. He's known as a bit of a hot head, and more than a few people think he's nothing but a sexist asshole, but no one he works with would deny him the credit of being an outstanding detective, doing whatever it takes to give his cases some form of closure.
Defining Virtue - Justice / Its what prompted him to be an officer in the first place. To get the bad guys. "Getting" the bad guys takes on a whole new aspect these days, but the reasons and practices are the same. People suffer. Someone has to pay.
Defining Vice - Wrath / Although he's use to getting called out, shot at, and verbally assaulted, James has a fairly high tolerance for the standard bullshit. Unfortunately, when his threshold is reached people have been known to take extended visitations to local hospitals.
Clan - Gangrel / As a vampire James has a whole new set of issues to deal with. At one time he could stare at a crime scene for hours on end trying to find out what was missing. These days his thoughts wander more, he can grow bored or angry if he's confined for too long, and his concentration has suffered. One thing he's noted however, is that his gut instincts seem to be getting better. Being a vampire hasnt hurt his abilities as a detective yet, but ever so slowly he's finding gaps in his abilities that werent there before. Where his vampiric life takes the remnants of his mortal life is still a question that he cant answer, though he still clings to his mortal contacts and job, using it to ground himself so that underlying voice and menace in his new soul doesnt overwhelm him.
Statistics - Dots and what they mean - Attributes
-Mentally James is not exactly a powerhouse. He's not dumb, he's not slow minded, he's just average. His mental resolve however carries him through. Even if he's not always the fastest thinker, or sharpest mind in the room, he is the most patient, and he will stay until he gets his answers.
-Physically James is pretty impressive. He's not as fast as he used to be, but he still keeps himself in shape. He's no hulk, but he's got natural strength and fortitude that take him well above the standard soft fat citizen of his city.
-Socially he's neither better nor worse than the next guy. He has his brilliant social moments, like his first wedding, as well as his brilliant social cluster fucks, like his first divorce. One thing he does have a bit above the rest is his ability to keep his cool. He has a fairly good cushion for bullshit, and doesnt get flustered or frightened easily, however, when he does lose his cool, thats another story completely.
Statistics - What the Dots mean - Skills
-He has very little in the way of mental skills, not really paying attention in school, and learning most of his lessons the old fashioned way. One thing he has a nack for, and something that is both trained and learned, is his ability to investigate crimes, puzzles, or most things clue related. His mind is great at putting pieces together, not only in crimes, but things as simple as puzzles or games. Although many think its due to nothing but talent, truth be told he took classes in criminology and various other classes on forensic and criminal investigation to get to the point he is today. In a crime scene, there are few more experienced or professional.
-His physical skills are a bit more practiced than his mental ones. He grew up in areas just close enough to the bad neighborhoods that he had to fight on a weekly basis, but just far enough away that he never got shot. He learned to punch, and he was pretty competent and powerful body shots or hay makers that could take someone down, or at least fuck him up enough to give james and his friends long enough to run. As he got older he kept himself in pretty good physical health, running regularly and lifting weights when he could. As a police officer he also trained himself to use various fire arms, at least to some proficiency. He hasnt been in too many fire fights, but he keeps himself well trained for those rare instances when theres no other way, and a strong arm just isnt enough.
-Socially James has a couple of suprises. One, he's good with animals, one of his first assignments was to be part of a Canine unit. This stint didnt last too long, but he learned enough to love the critters, buying his first Canine partner when it was ready to retire. He buys retired dogs from the department from time to time, and currently has two of them in his apartment that he cares for. Not suprisingly is his ability to handle people on the streets. He knows the lingo, knows the bullshit, and knows hot to cut the chase and get right to business. Growing up around some of the seedier streets of the city has given him a healthy understanding of the people he tends to investigate. His biggest asset is his ability of sheer intimidation. He carries himself well, he's got the no bullshit attitude, and he has a short temper when pressed, plus he's not afraid to muscle a guy up a bit to get some answers. This last ability has helped him on investigations, and its something he's gotten down to a near science.
Statistics - What the dots mean - Merits
- James has an amazing amount of clout in the department. Most people know his name, and the people in higher power are so impressed by his progress that they tend to overlook or bury some of the seedier aspects of him getting the job done. People owe him favors, lots of people. He can call for reinforcements, a quick background check, and basic equipment with a simple phone call, but if he really pulls some favors he could bring hell down on some poor bastard, or at least get himself out of some serious shit. Most other detectives know him as well, and they never mind when he comes poking his nose around a crime scene or case, even if it isnt his.
- James actually does pretty well with his money. Alot of it is due to his friends in the force knowing more about investing than he does. Regardless he can afford a pretty nice apartment, up to date clothes and peripherals, and still have a good handfull of cash for a night on the town.
-James knows people besides the police, he can lean on the right punks or thugs to find out some information about the bigger fish. He's cultivated these contacts over the years, but it will never be the information net that gangs and criminals themselves can get there hands on, still, its a nice way to get a quick lead.
Statistics - What the dots mean - Disciplines
James is pretty new to the whole vampire thing, but is finally put his mind around it. Being a vampire also means he's dealing with a whole new set of assholes. Some of these guys are nothing but hidden monsters, some of them are visible monsters, and some of them are just pretending not to be monsters. Following his desires, his blood created ways to make him feel safe, secure, and capable of protecting himself, and defending others in this entirely new and horrific world. He found himself capable of intimidating his peers, and when those around him cowered at the sight of some of these more powerful monsters, he was capable of steeling himself, and looking at these creatures without one shred fear. Almost as a reflex his blood allowed him to meld with dirt or earth around him, this was probably due in part to the fact that his mentor and creator was pretty much worthless as far as a teacher went, and his blood devoloped a way to protect him on its own. Finally, his blood and will developed a weapon known and feared by other clans. Black, glassy claws that were about the sharpest and deadliest weapons James had ever seen. He hasnt used them, but he feels safe now that he has them, knowing that he can harm his enemies, and defend his allies.
Ok, thats my basic profile. I'll post more, but not some of the most detailed information, as this is a vampire game, which means secrets are everything. =)
