Silei's Book

Legacy Item for the mantle of Wizards.

Little is known of Silei's Book, as its owner, and the book recently vanished from Volasia. All traces of Silei and her book have been slowly succumbing to an effect known as a fog, a powerful effect
that slowly removes evidence, or causes those near it to impulsively ignore it. People are, as of right
now, aware that this person and item existed, and assume the late Mantle Bearer ran afoul of a god
or a powerful artifact.

Silei's Book
- Stores any number of spells, the heavy tome however weights 7lb. The book itself is immune to energy effects, water damage, disintigration effects and teleportation effects. This item does not function in the hands of a non wizard. Even if that non wizard bears the Wizards Mantle. The book cannot enter an extradimensional space.  The book must be on the wizarsd person to utilize the enhancement bonus or wizardry effect, and must be held in hand to use the metamagic abilities and spell like abilities.

Catastrophe Bells

The Catastrophe Bells were created during the second age, but werent given power upon there creation. No, there power, like most items of legacy, were given power by times of great trial. Volasia has always been known for its swordsman, particularly, the duelists. Duels of fun, game, and death are done constantly even to this day to settle disputes both real and imagined by the courts of Volasia. At the time, there was a god amongst the duelists, the god of the rapier. She was powerful, proud, and one of the deadliest warriors of her time. She is known in tales only as Catastrophe, but dedicated scholars know  the woman to be a noblemans daughter, one Ezeralla Fureshay. What is known, is that she was blessed by ember with good luck, as was most of her family. The items that are known as the catostrophe bells were actually crafted from mithral and had tiny silver drums on the insides, there were three made, and Ezeralla gave those bells to her younger sister, Surella. Ezeralla believed that the bells, her training bells, would be a token of good luck for her sickly younger sister who had lived her life with the misfortune of not only a frail body, but the lacking of the families otherwise good luck. The tale begins when Ezeralla disapeared during one of her many adventures. No scrying or magic could find her, and some believed that she had died. This rumor dissapated when Ezeralla showed up along with a horde of undead to raid a nearby trading town. This was not the only attack however, shortly after another small mining village was destroyed, and then, a coastal town. Ezeralla leading the charge on all counts. Many champions went to face down the small army, but none could overcome Ezeralla's amazing combat prowess. The mystery behind Ezerallas betrayal came later, when a member of her family found and raised one of her fallen comrades, her comrade spoke that there troupe uncovered a powerful, elusive lich. This particular lich was incredibly cowardly, and had amazing defenses on his phylactery, specifically, that only a god could destroy it. The lich had lured the troupe into an ambush, killed the other members, and then must have taken over her mind with powerful magics. Scholars then put together that the lich was attacking these smaller towns to get rid of other champions in posession of mantles, so that he could guarantee his power. The raised comrade told the others that the phylactery was secured by there wizard before he died, and told them how to get it, but destroying it was impossible, even if it was in enemies hands, and it was only a matter of time before the lich located the phylactery and retrieved it. Plans were put into play, but with the powers of the lich behind her, Ezeralla was turning out to be a nearly unstoppable foe. The lich was smart enough to only attack smaller towns, and stayed far away from the city, so as not to attract the attention of the queen herself, and the lone heroes that challenged Ezeralla were either put down by the swordswoman, or killed by the magics of the lich. Ezeralla, of course, did get stopped. Her defeat came at a small military camp far north of Volasia, the location of the hidden phylactery, the tactics were the same, undead attacked and destroyed the main defenses, and Ezeralla dispatched all would be champions. Her mind completely controlled, she no doubt had to have been suprised, when a small figure emerged before her after her victory at the town. The small figure, was of course, her sister. Surella stood there, her elgant dress blowing in the wind, her frail figure so small before her sister, and the rapier in her hands trembling. The small crystal bells attached to the rapier by a ribbon, peeling out there nervousness in tandom. Surella boldly challenged her sister, and of course, her sister accepted at the behest of the lich's control. The lich, nearby, stayed hidden. Though the small figure seemed frail and sickly, the lich could sense some form of magic emenating from her, and so wanted to be cautious. Ezeralla approached her sister, a cautious stance. Surella's stance was amatueuristic at best, and Ezeralla was sure she could get in a quick, fatal blow. She was right. The duel lasted one stroke. Ezeralla stabbed forward piercing her sister through the heart, and dropping her instantly. Through his magic the lich could see the small girl fall, and the crystal bells ring once against the stone. The lich's body at that point, turned into fine powder, as the lich was now destroyed. Ezeralla snapped out of her compulsion, the master behind it destroyed, and looked at the crumpled form of her sister. Ever so gently she turned her sister over, and reached in to where the wound was. There was no blood however, just a fractured, amber stone, tucked in her blouse, right where her heart was. Ezeralla blinked. The phylactery! Surella let out a sigh, and a little cough, and set upright, smiling slightly at her sister. "I guess the bells worked, it was only luck that you went for my heart." Ezeralla blinked. Her sister had risked everything on one, grand bluff. She lifted her sister as the undead around her began falling to the ground, there control broken. Ezeralla quirked a coy smile. "You know the chances of me hitting that stone instead of you, choosing your heart, and the lich not killing you outright made your plan insane."  Surella gave a tired smile as her sister carried her. "I was really hoping that those bells would either give me luck or give you luck. I guess it just took his."  Ezeralla accepted the gift back from her sister and named the crystal bells the cotastrophe bells, and used them for years to come, bringing luck to herself, and misfortune to her enemies. As time passed, the great swordwoman became known in history as only Catastrophe as she championed good to make up for her misdeeds, and was never seen again without her misfortune bringing crystal bells.

An adventurers Insight.

Kuh-jai set at his table eating quietly, and occasionally taking out a long reed-pipe to take a few puffs in between a sip of some low quality wine. After waiting close to an hour, and watching the darkness set in to the landscape of Alborine, a familiar man set across from him, took a prepared cup of ale and took a long drink of it. It was the quiet man that spoke first. "What did you think, your curiousity finally sated?" Kuh-Jai gently scratched at the base of one of his tall ears, a smile creased over his fox like face. "It was better than expected. They seem to be skilled. I also wanted to verify that the thing on her belt was in fact, the Gate Stone. It was."  The other man nodded and took another sip of his ale. "Shizagi gonna be mad for not getting the stone?"  Kuh-Jai shook his head and took a puff of his long-pipe. "No, though it makes our task a bit harder. The item needs to be un attuned, and im pretty sure the thing master is making will destroy it, so we need to look for another vile one. The Chalice's are off limits, `cause we dont have mantles, so finding them would be all but impossible." The quieter man listend to the fox speak, took another drink and looked at him. "So what do we do, we cant go back empty handed." Kuh-Jai nodded and smiled broadly. "Dont worry! the little bug had a whole bunch of information in those books of his. I got a few leads, though we'll need to travel a bit. I dont want to cross paths with this Crimson Circle."  The quieter man looked to his friend. "They powerful?" Kuh-Jai shrugged. "I guess so. But more importantly they have the sin brands that master does. That makes them predictably unpredictable." The quiet man took a drink, motioning for a refill. "How far are they into there sin?" Kuh-Jai took a long, slow puff of his pipe and regarded his friend. "Not to the level that Master has sunk. But its only a matter of time, they will gain power, and that power will be stained by there sin. I dont believe they realize what they've gotten themselves into. Though, that being said, some of that sin will blossom into incredible power." The smaller man waited for his drink, and regarded his friend again. "What do you think will happen to them? you could see there sin right, like with master." Kuh-Jai nodded and tapped his forehead. "Yeah. i could see, thanks to the Mirror-Mask. And what will happen to them, hard to tell. Hopefully they get what they want before the sin takes over. I think they assume that they are gods of there sin, when in actuality, they have god like sin. But it isnt something they control. Its from them. It will become amplified over time. Overwhelmingly so. Like master" He paused, pondered his thoughts, took a puff from his pipe and spoke again. "Once lust is in its final stage I doubt Kaliora's thoughts will be able to hold on to her dreams. She'll be consumed with fulfilling her own Lust, and spread that lust to others she is with. Maybe a specialized brothel?" Kuh-Jai shrugged at his own thought and continued. "Pride will cause its owner to become more careless, he will think himself immortal, undefeatable, and in its final stage the bearer of that sin will think himself above his comrades. This will lead to his downfall." He took another long pull from his pipe and continued. "Greed and Envy follow the same path. They lead to sloppy, traitorous behavior. Greed would do anything for money, betray, kill, plot, steal. In its final stages the amount wont even matter, just that overwhelming need for more. Envy will follow a similar path." He sighed and looked out of the tavern window, then back to his friend. "Wrath, thats an easy one. Being consumed with wrath means falling to it, becoming filled with it constantly. This might work for Indeera, but her goals would need to be in place before the sin got to its final stage." Kuh-Jai quirked a smile at his friend. "And we've seen the final stage of god like Sloth for ourselves. So theres no question as to its outcome. Basically one gets so lazy that he has to have his subordinates do EVERYTHING. still, its a sin in which he has access to his own thoughts. So he got lucky I guess." Kuh-Jai pulled out a small, black leather bound book and looked to his friend. "They do however, have Fayn on there side. He perpetuates these common sins more than most, and so they might be able to harness them better than master did. Also, I doubt they would want to give up the power these sins bring, even if they did know of there potential danger. Finally, they seek out artifacts I think, faynish ones. Im assuming thats why the bug is looking into them. If they have powerful enough artifacts, those relics will affect there paths far more than sin would." Kuh-Jai shrugged again. "But really, they are evil. What they desire will ultimately destroy them, they're only saving grace here is that they probably have the approval of there god. But there not safe, thats for certain, and dealing with them again would be problematic. Im not exactly sure what Kaliora is, but I have a feeling it might actually benefit from this sin somehow, or evolve differently. My Mirror Mask saw a great power around her. But it wasnt coming from her. Somehow, I dont think she actually has any power at all. Even the mantle seemed to be worn loose on her, like her soul can barely hold its weight. But, in the same way, I think she wields much more power than I want to contend with, and I know she would bring it to bare against us should we get in her way. Still, I shouldnt be suprised with new arcanist types in alborine. It is the city of dreams after all." Kuh-Jai looked at the smaller man. "Well enough chit chat. We need to find Len-Shai. Its been a few weeks, so he should pop up in one of the smaller villages soon. Ill scry for him here in a day or two, but for now we'll head to out of the gates, after we get him we'll go get us an artifact for Shizagi's masterpiece." The smaller man nodded. "Ill get our ward and meet you at the gate." The smaller man stood up, shouldered his katana, and headed to the door. Kuh-Jai followed the man with his eyes, then looked out the window again, taking one final puff of his long-pipe. "Samurai and Ninja working together." the old fox smirked. "Ward, indeed." Alot was riding on this contraption of Shizagi's. Enough to cause more than a few rich lords to put there resources behind a known demonologist and wu-jen. "The future looks amusing master. I simply, cant, wait." and with those final words the old fox's form slipped into invisibility. His tab unpaid.

The Power of a Wish

(This is a game related post that covers some information that took place during the last adventure.)

Kaliora - "I wish I was regarded as a noble." - "I wish a seneschal would aid me in my trials"
-- After the wish was uttered, a string of events unfolded. Shortly after returning a note reached Kaliora detailing a recent change in her status. apparently an elderly woman named Ellevette Lazaar had recently passed away. The woman, a well to do high elf, was the last in her line of her family. There were apparently no known survivors to take the name of the line. As chance would have it a studious academic in charge of the record keeping regarding that particular noble realized that there was a female elf along the same blood that had produced a half elven offspring. The elven woman did not know she herself was part of a traditional noble line, nor did her daughter. The elven woman died of illness, and her husband and his house were destroyed spectacularly under mysterious cicrumstances. The half elven child could not adopt her fathers title, as he was human, however high elven customs permit half elven descendants, should they be the last of the line, to inherit the noble name, so long as its under the Alborine banner. Though the house is no longer standing, the Elven Title is now under the care of Kaliora, and seeing  as she has aquired a manor of some worth, the title has worth among the noble caste within Alborine, though she can only aquire a least noble's status as of right now."
"Shortly after recieving news of her upgraded status and title, a man presented himself. The elderly man, calling himself Vahlendrad, is a half alborine, half ravenspire mix. He has a great deal of knowledge when it comes to finances, nobility, titles, and ettiquette, as well as knowing the ins and outs of expectations among the Greater Nobles, and the means to aquire more power within the noble houses. Vahlendrad offers his services, at no rate, only asking for room, board, and the means to do his job proffesionally. Vahlendrad has no qualms about working with an arcanist, nor does he care about the ins and outs of morality, only wishing to see his mistress achievers her goals."

Kerrivas - "I wish I had more wealth." "I wish I had Witch's Ash"
-- After making the two wishes there was apparently no change, however, among returning to Alborine after the boat ride you were met with a messenger just after arriving to the docks. Apparently due to Kerrivas's recent progress, he was awarded a gift. A package arrived at the house, and was secured by the people working upon the house. Upon opening the package you find that it is a small chest filled with platinum pieces, a small, strange greyish metal vial sitting neatly on top. To the side, is a small scroll, a white rose tucked into it. -- "Dearest Kerrivas. I am saddened that we could not meet in person. Gauthik speaks so highly of you, and you have done so much for us. I offer you this in light of your current achievements. I know you are not in the position you seek, but perhaps my gift will make achieving that goal a bit easier for you. If so, I have done well. Seek always to do that which betters his name. Your friend and confidant. White-"  -- The chest contains 14000gp as well as a single dose of Witch's Ash. ((DC - 32 fortitude save. Initial damage. Total Destruction. Soul Destruction. Cannot be ressurected, cannot reach the heavens. Must be immune to poison and disease to be immune to this effect. There is no secondary effect.))

Indeera - "I wish the thoughts of those around me were clear to me." - "I wish my Consort to be was better suited for her upcoming role"
Hearing her say the wish was a bit disconcerting, but there was no immiediate effect to her. It should be noted that Indeera does hold her hand to her right temple from time to time, as if in pain, and has given a knowing look to each party member on more than one occasion. Also, After returning home and getting settled in, Indeera anounces that Ella Sharai will be chosen as her official Consort, and that she will be second in command of the Crimson Circle in Indeera's absence. The ceremony to make the transition official will take place before the end of the downtime, and it is rumored that the Council has unanimously decided to award her chosen consort a Mantle to show there acceptance of the decision.

Varrin - "Wish I had the biggest cock in alborine." - "Wish I couldnt Die."
Hearing Varrins first wish isnt that suprising. His thoughts dont really go in directions of much complication. You could only imagine the outcome of it, and imaginint it was entirely pleasant. Needless to say he started saying how he'd need to find a new cod plate for his great-hammer.  The second wish was more perplexing, though you have no idea how it would manifest, or even if it worked. Varrin isnt one for conversation, so asking him about it only lead to, "Just dont want to die, so I can do more killing."
