(Session update!)
The Two Scars continued onward the next morning. They were greeted by harsh weather, and some rather harsh looks from Lamidon. Sensing something foul, Kharask approached his daughter Zahporah in hopes of gaining some insight into her fathers demeanor. She was non helpful, and even agressive in her approach to the dragonborn. Frustrated, Kharask made the grim prediction that should they cross the troupe, they would be delt with harshley. After the argument Kharask agreed to further lead the troupe towards winterhome. They rested in the evening, and then headed out again the following morning, around mid day Zahporah and Lamidon's intentions presented themselves, as the Two Scars was lead to its first ambush. Blue Scale dragonborns, hired thugs, and there leader, a mage attacked the company by suprise. The tradesmen and his daughter escaped out the back. The battle was hard fought, but quickly became one sided. Kharask used tactics and guile to position his comrades who made short work of the enemies. Baerd and Azriel contributed a great deal to the slaughter, as did merric once he finally worked himself into the fray. Dalanor as always stayed in the rear, bringing powerful and deadly magics to bare on his foes. The battle was relatively quick, and Erantelik managed to convince the mage to surrender. After much cajoling, Kharask as well as the two fey touched managed to get some information from the mage. Tiamat, godess of evil dragonkind had spread its dark wings over the land surrounding Karan'Has. The lone blue scale they had fought before was no mere sellsword, but probably an agent from the nearby shrine the mage spoke of. All there defeated enemies had the symbol of tiamat worn around there necks. Unfortunately the encounter was not a total victory. Kharask had sent Baerd, Azriel and Merric to bring back the tradesman and his daughter, but the foul curse surrounding the Angath Hammerhold took hold of the already frail minded dwarf, and drove him to madness. Lamidon suffered little, as his life was extinguished long before he ever hit the ground. Zahporah however, suffered greatly. She saw her own father killed in front of her. Catatonic with fear and shock it was all merric could do to comfort her and get her back to the wagon where she collapsed. Kharask did an honorable burial for the dishonest tradesman in hopes that Tovik would spare baerd his wrath at such a disgraceful lack of discipline. After admonishing the dwarf, settling Zahporah, securing the mage, and getting there affairs in order, the troupe set down for the night, intent on finding the shrine the mage had informed them of, and destroying it. The following day they set out, but not before Zahporah layed her own curse upon the unfortunate dwarf. Bitter and hatefull to the end, the young stricken girl set out alone for winterhome. The troupe used the mage to lead them to the shrine, and true to his word, the dragonborn set the mage free. The Two Scars then were lucky enough to catch the small troupe of dragonborne that were securing the cave off guard, and made a preemptive strike. This battle was hard fought, for the blue scales were true dragonborn warriors, but with good tactics and several heavy hits, the battle was soon ended. Wasting no time, the troupe looted the dead blue scales and moved into the abandoned dragon cave. Inside the cave they soon uncovered several truths after hearing a brief conversation. First, the troupe was bound by more than just the company, as the one merric later identified for Kharask, was the same traitor that had blemished his homeland so long ago. Second, the spread of tiamat was far indeed, and more had been going on in the years since his departure than Kharask could ever have known. The traitor then left, telling the subordinate he was talking to, to clean up the mess he had left behind. The dragonborn was an elite warrior, and had two wyrmlings to help him out, a small black wyrmling, and a blue wyrmling. The troupe was lucky enough to suprise the evil blue scale and his minions, and attacked with fervor. The battle was well fought, and the company truelly acted as a team. Azriel started off strong, moving into battle hastily and cutting into the blue wyrmling with several powerful attacks. Kharask followed the elf, using his leadership to position his allies and frustrate the enemies. Dalanor asserted himself early on, teleporting close to the main battle and setting powerful illusions to ravage the minds of the blue scale and the wyrmling, and then bringing powerful dark magics against the blue scale which left it temporarily weakened. Erantaelik did as he always did, moving in and disorienting his foes, while his allies positioned themselves for better damage. Merric was particularly dangerous in the encounter, landing ferocious attacks over and over again on the blue scale and his minions. Baerd used some of the confusion he had been gathering over the last couple of days and turned it to white hot rage, or perhaps insanity, setting it against the blue scale. In the end, the battle was extremely difficult, but extremely well fought, and the troupe managed themselves excellently. The encounter, above all else, opened the door to a plethorah of questions, and pointed a direction for the Two Scars to follow.
