Session Stuff

Ok, wed. session was pretty spectacular, and my post did little more than recap some of the main events. Below I'm going to give some more detailed info into the session from Kharasks point of view.

Erantaelik- The drow had several shining moments in the session. One, he was able to act as a sub leader while Kharask was dealing with the chaos surrounding Lamidon's (woot) demise. Kharask trusted him with the prisoner without question, hoping that the drow would act in a proper manner while he was gone. The drow handled himself well, and got some useful information from the mage as well. In combat, the drow handled each battle with an often used, but well played tactic. By utilizing his gifts over darkness, the drow contains a small amount of enemies while the rest of the troupe uses the diversion to take down a few of the enemies numbers quickly. This tactic is excellent, and even enemies that expect it, or are seemingly prepared for it tend to get caught up in the confusion of it. The troupe handles the darkness well now, at first, it was just as distracting to the Two Scars as it was to the enemy, now, the troupe knows what to expect, and how to handle themselves when the distraction goes up.

Merric - The halfling had it rough over the course of the adventure. Trying to befriend the tradesman and his daughter only made it that much harder when Baerd murdered Lamidon, and Zepora swore revenge on them. Knowing the halflings past, it must have been hard to see the young lady suffering as her father was taken from this world, and Kharask hopes merric wont hold a grudge too heavily on the dwarf. However, it seems the dwarf and the halfling have a bit of a comraderie going, and hopefully things work out. Merric also found out the general location of his parents, and that its likely they are either slaves, or dead, having been eaten by the Blue Scales. He learned the face of his enemy, and it turns out, its the same enemy that Kharask seems to be after. Kharask is going to make it a priority to get merric's parents back, or at least find out there fate, and he holds he can keep merric patient while they find a non suicidal way to get things done. One failing of his company is there impatience, and Kharask himself will have to check this fault within him, while holding it back in the others, especially merric. In combat, merric always pulls his weight. He utilizes the natural chaos of battle to deliver unsespecting blows to his enemies. Always understimated, its easy for the small humanoid to get away with downing one enemy after another before the oposition realizes just how much of a threat he really is.

Dalanor - The wizard is handling himself quite well. Kharask was also pleased when he was the first to claim responsability for Lamidons death, after explaining that he knew of the curse. Kharask still admonishes his troupe for letting such a thing happen, but he also realizes that in this instance, the murder seemed almost fated to take place. The silver elf also found out that he was wanted by the same people that wanted Kharask, but for different reasons, it sesms something is locked away deep in Dalanor's mind or past that he cant fully grasp, and that the followers of tiamat seem desperate to get ahold of. Dalanor seemed lest nervous of the situation, and almost more at ease when he heard of the news, and Kharask believes that a sign or direction is exactly what the silver elf was waiting for. In combat the silver elf excelled as he always does, using illusions and elemental blasts to keep the enemy seperated, or to keep them from moving tactically. He's been working in combat much better as the days go by, and Kharask feels its only a matter of time before the Two Scars will be relying heavily on his ability to move the battle as he sees it.

Baerd - The dwarf. Many in the company probably wonder just why it is that Kharask did not chastise him, or become angrier with him at the slaughter of Lamidon. How could he. Kharask has done far worse than the dwarf, and he understood quickly that the dwarf was overcome with a curse. To Kharask a curse is like a stain, theres no reason to remove the weapong from baerd, for the curse would remain, both on baerd, and on the axe. No, the dwarf is a tragic figure to Kharask, but one he feels can be redeemed. In combat he is a monster, a terror to his enemies, he attacks quickly and ferociously never giving his enemies enough time to form a good counter attack. His combat effectiveness does not overshadow his social innefectiveness, but its still a good reason to keep the dwarf around, if nothing else just to keep a watchful eye on him.

Azriel - Azriel remains a constant. He does what is needed of him, lends a hand in any social event and is quick to act when combat arises. He has been trustworthy and helpful to Kharask, and is an excellent scout and trailblazer for the troupe. In combat he strikes quickly and makes his enemies have to work for a counterattack. The elf darts across the battlefield, weakening and killing his enemies with his dancing blades. Kharask still does not have a full grasp on the elf, but believes in time he will open up and reveal more of himself.

Lamidon - Kharask truelly regrets the death of the tradessman. He offered them good company and a full stomach during a previous trek, and seemed an amiable sort of fellow. Even had he known the man to be attached to the thieves guild, he would have still honored him as a friend. It was unfortunate that he turned on the group, leading them into an ambush, and it was ultimately his undoing. Kharask fully realizes that he did this bit of deception against his will, knowing that he and his daughter would be killed if he did not accomplish his task. He'll always remember the terror in the mans eyes as he fled from the wagon. This wasnt a warrior, this was a father and his daughter, doing what they could to survive. The weight is heavy on Kharask, but he means to honor the tradesman, and make sure his daughter is taken care of. That he believes, is waht Lamidon wanted all along.

Ok, thats that. i'll have more soon i bet!

3rd adventure 6th session

(Session update!)

The Two Scars continued onward the next morning. They were greeted by harsh weather, and some rather harsh looks from Lamidon. Sensing something foul, Kharask approached his daughter Zahporah in hopes of gaining some insight into her fathers demeanor. She was non helpful, and even agressive in her approach to the dragonborn. Frustrated, Kharask made the grim prediction that should they cross the troupe, they would be delt with harshley. After the argument Kharask agreed to further lead the troupe towards winterhome. They rested in the evening, and then headed out again the following morning, around mid day Zahporah and Lamidon's intentions presented themselves, as the Two Scars was lead to its first ambush. Blue Scale dragonborns, hired thugs, and there leader, a mage attacked the company by suprise. The tradesmen and his daughter escaped out the back. The battle was hard fought, but quickly became one sided. Kharask used tactics and guile to position his comrades who made short work of the enemies. Baerd and Azriel contributed a great deal to the slaughter, as did merric once he finally worked himself into the fray. Dalanor as always stayed in the rear, bringing powerful and deadly magics to bare on his foes. The battle was relatively quick, and Erantelik managed to convince the mage to surrender. After much cajoling, Kharask as well as the two fey touched managed to get some information from the mage. Tiamat, godess of evil dragonkind had spread its dark wings over the land surrounding Karan'Has. The lone blue scale they had fought before was no mere sellsword, but probably an agent from the nearby shrine the mage spoke of. All there defeated enemies had the symbol of tiamat worn around there necks. Unfortunately the encounter was not a total victory. Kharask had sent Baerd, Azriel and Merric to bring back the tradesman and his daughter, but the foul curse surrounding the Angath Hammerhold took hold of the already frail minded dwarf, and drove him to madness. Lamidon suffered little, as his life was extinguished long before he ever hit the ground. Zahporah however, suffered greatly. She saw her own father killed in front of her. Catatonic with fear and shock it was all merric could do to comfort her and get her back to the wagon where she collapsed. Kharask did an honorable burial for the dishonest tradesman in hopes that Tovik would spare baerd his wrath at such a disgraceful lack of discipline. After admonishing the dwarf, settling Zahporah, securing the mage, and getting there affairs in order, the troupe set down for the night, intent on finding the shrine the mage had informed them of, and destroying it. The following day they set out, but not before Zahporah layed her own curse upon the unfortunate dwarf. Bitter and hatefull to the end, the young stricken girl set out alone for winterhome. The troupe used the mage to lead them to the shrine, and true to his word, the dragonborn set the mage free. The Two Scars then were lucky enough to catch the small troupe of dragonborne that were securing the cave off guard, and made a preemptive strike. This battle was hard fought, for the blue scales were true dragonborn warriors, but with good tactics and several heavy hits, the battle was soon ended. Wasting no time, the troupe looted the dead blue scales and moved into the abandoned dragon cave. Inside the cave they soon uncovered several truths after hearing a brief conversation. First, the troupe was bound by more than just the company, as the one merric later identified for Kharask, was the same traitor that had blemished his homeland so long ago. Second, the spread of tiamat was far indeed, and more had been going on in the years since his departure than Kharask could ever have known. The traitor then left, telling the subordinate he was talking to, to clean up the mess he had left behind. The dragonborn was an elite warrior, and had two wyrmlings to help him out, a small black wyrmling, and a blue wyrmling. The troupe was lucky enough to suprise the evil blue scale and his minions, and attacked with fervor. The battle was well fought, and the company truelly acted as a team. Azriel started off strong, moving into battle hastily and cutting into the blue wyrmling with several powerful attacks. Kharask followed the elf, using his leadership to position his allies and frustrate the enemies. Dalanor asserted himself early on, teleporting close to the main battle and setting powerful illusions to ravage the minds of the blue scale and the wyrmling, and then bringing powerful dark magics against the blue scale which left it temporarily weakened. Erantaelik did as he always did, moving in and disorienting his foes, while his allies positioned themselves for better damage. Merric was particularly dangerous in the encounter, landing ferocious attacks over and over again on the blue scale and his minions. Baerd used some of the confusion he had been gathering over the last couple of days and turned it to white hot rage, or perhaps insanity, setting it against the blue scale. In the end, the battle was extremely difficult, but extremely well fought, and the troupe managed themselves excellently. The encounter, above all else, opened the door to a plethorah of questions, and pointed a direction for the Two Scars to follow.

Ok, Gonna have more on the rp of the game later on. Just wanted to go over the generals in the post. I'll have more soon!

Description -Kharask-

Hey guys, this is another character related post. I'm posting a character description updated with some of his new gear.

Kharask stands 6'8" tall, and weighs over 300 pounds. Being a dragonborn he appears to be a draconic humanoid covered in dull rust colored scales. Brighter scarlet scales cover his forearms, and shins, the fronts of his thighs, his shoulders and the top of his head. Many long black horns fold back from the back of his head to his shoulders. His face is very draconic, but a bit wider than the average dragonborn. His eyes are blood red with no iris or pupil, and hard to make out sometimes from scales on his face. His mouth is noticable because it is blackened similar to that of a dessert lizards, although the blackening comes from an inner heat in the dragonborn. Indeed, flames can be seen to flicker up from the fixed nostrils on the front of his snout, and steam pours from his mouth in cold weather. His features are thick and muscled. He doesnt seem to have much dexterity in his limbs, instead they seemed crafted for war. His fingers and thumb are tipped with powerful black claws, as do his feet, which ne never adorns. As far as unofficial gear goes, Kharask has some clothing which shows a bit of his tribe like nature. Black cords are wrapped around his ankles up to the shin, as well as on his fore arms. the cords seem to have some random charms attached to them. Those looking closely will notice a few teeth, but also odd looking stones, and possibley jewelry. The ornaments are worn only on the cords near on his shins, the thin leather cords around his forearms seem to be in a pattern, those observing can tell it probably relates to a position or job that Kharask holds, or has held. Officially the dragonborn wears a suit of chainmail armor, there is a thin leather vesting underneath it, but only the chainmail is visible. The mail covers his chest, but leaves his arms and legs open, as the dragonborn have thick scales on those areas of there body, and usually only cover them with heavier metal armors. He does wear a loin cloth, as well as tight leather wrappings around his thighs, all the way down to his knees. He changes these regularly as they become slashed up and coated in blood. He wears no helmet, but has added a shield to his combat gear. The shield is a small wooden disc, fitted with a metal rim and bracing. Its a typical human crafted shield, and looks neither shoddy, nor magnificent. On his side, off of a crude leather belt he holsters his new weapon, a warhammer, crafted from a fine, dark metal. The hammer looks heavy, and Kharask seems to have a greater grip on this weapon than he did with his maul. At some times, it appears as if kharask strains to hold the weapon in his hands, as if it is ready leap out on its own. The head of the weapon is simple and brutal, dwarven made with thin bars leading to heavy heads. The damage end of the weapon is extremely dark, and those looking at it can sense a distortion around the weapon if they look at it long enough, as if waves of force are pulsing from it. around his neck the dragonborn wears a simple copper pendant, a red jewel shining brightly from the center of the piece. The medalion is hung around his neck from a simple copper chain, and looks both mundane, and cheap. However, those seeing him fighting before have noticed that as he moves around the battlefield and engages the enemy, the center seems to glow a dull deep red. On his back the dragonborn carries his backpack, its slung tight over his shoulders and secured around his waist. Its obviously full, and obviously well used. At the base of the backpack is his tent and blanketroll. Although normally heavy and awkward, it appears small and uncumbersome on the dragonborn. Tied off on the side of his back pack is a long quiver filled with several javelins. Kharask also carries a simple dwarven made throwing hammer looped on the left side of his belt. Also on the left side of his belt is a small pale leather pouch which he keeps his coin in. Kharasks movements are slow, powerful and precise, uncannily reptilian. As a dragonborn he does not smile, and its hard to read his facial expressions, since the dragonborn dont have the muscle work in there faces that most other humanoid races have. Those close to him, such as allies and friends, have noted that he emits very subtle scents from time to time, and these might be an indicator as to his moods, but deciphering them would take quite a while to perfect. The easiest way it seems to tell kharasks mood, or any dragonborns mood, is to simply ask. Honest and proud, Kharask never hesitates to show his displearsure or his appreciation of a situation or event.

Ok, hope you guys enjoyed. I'll have more soon I bet.

From Sorrow

(Another character related post)

The tale came from sorrow, and Kharask did not like dwelling on his past, yet there it was. He remembered the time that she fell from him, that he killed her. But he remembered before that too, he remembered the others tonight. At that time, at the end, he was leading only dragonborn. It was there first mission as a team, and it would be there last. He remembers all of them. Kretas'Varel, Tulvet, and the traitor. The dragonborn had accepted the traitor to there tribe for training as a warrior. There tribe was small, but trained many skirmish style fighters as well as being the foremost of the smaller tribes for training warlords. Kretas was a powerful warrior, he used a longspear as well as being proficient in using javelins. Tulvet was small, but suprisingly resilient. Kharask had seen one of the blue scales put an axe in his head during a raid, only to be stabbed to death by the vicious dragonborn, he was known to carry throwing daggers, but his main weapon was a war pick, and he also carried a heavy shield. The traitor used many weapons, but he mainly used a greatsword while at the tribe. Kharask recieved the three warriors as his to be commanded after this last training mission was to be completed. The one that was to be the traitor would more than likely be replaced upon returning to his tribe. The band was lead to a small clearing by a scout, the scout then moved ahead towards some nearby overgrowth and trees, sensing something. It wasnt long after he disapeared that they heard the sounds of his death, followed by roars. The blue scales had set an ambush. Six of there barbaric warriors charged the troupe, armed with sword and shield. Kharasks own members braced for the assault, but at that moment the traitor turned, running Tulvet through with his blade and moving towards his allies. Tulvet amazingly scrambled to his feet, bleeding but looking for blood. At that point Kretas looked back, and Kharask gave him a grim nod. They would stand there ground. The battle was extremely violent. The blue scales charged with blasts of lightning coming from there maws and using staggered attacks to rest and then move back in. Tulvet was to be credited with most of this victory, right from the start he planted his pick in the chest of one of the blue scales, then unleashed a blast of caustic liquid that turned his quarries head to paste. He then got a lucky head shot on another, killing it instantly as the pick smashed into a soft spot on the side of the blue scales skull. Eventually the small but fearless dragonborn succumbed to his wounds. He had been stabbed well over a dozen times, a javelin was sticking through his left shoulder, and his shield arm was broken in at least two places. Even so, as Tulvet died he lunged forward biting into the neck of one of the blue scales, the enemy stabbed him several times, but it was all for not, Kharask smashed the blue scale in the side of the head killing him, and tulvet fell beside him, his mouth still latched to the bluescale, even in death. During this time Kharask had killed two but, was also badly wounded. His great maul had found the heads of two of his enemy, but he was bleeding badly himself. Kretas was the hero though, he had killed one of the blue scales by himself with his longspear, and had got several nice shots in on several of the others, weakening them up for Kharask and Tulvet, but when the traitor charged Kharask to finish the battle, it was Kretas that disrupted the charge. Kharask could only watch as the traitor and Kretas battled, he was patching himself and preparing himself for more, knowing that another team would be there soon. He knew in his condition he would only get in the dragonborns way. Kretas handled himself well. Although built as well as Kharask was, the traitor seemed to at a loss when dealing with the dragonborn. Kretas dodged his attacks while spearing the traitor over and over. At last Kretas saw an opening, and drove his spear through the traitors shoulder, much as he had done so many years ago to kharask. The traitor howled and dropped his sword. Kretas pulled out his spear viciously and stepped back preparing to lunge the weapon through the traitors head, but it was not to be. A second team had arrived, and they had launched a barrage of javelins towards the two. Kharask stared grimly as the weapons soared his way, but then he saw only the face of Kretas. The dragonborn shuddered several times as he took the javelins meant for him and Kharask. Kharask watched in grim sorrow as the eyes of his comrade clouded over, and became vacant. Kretas fell to the ground a moment later, but it had given Kharask an oppurtunity to withdraw...

This was a tale from sorrow, and the ending was even more painful to him.

Two Scars Company - Official!-

(Another Character related post)

players please read! this will have some relevance, as kharask would have spoken with you about your general functions in the troupe before leaving.

Kharask - Leader and spokesperson of the Two Scars. Kharask will be in charge of maintaining the troupes numbers, allies, and individual members. It will be his responsability to deny or accept contracts. Other members will be allowed to bring requests to his notice, but kharask has the final say as to what is denied and accepted. Note, that the Two Scars wont necessarily have to have a contract to adventure. If a possibility for spoils shows itself, the company may just take independent action to cash in on the oppurtunity. Kharask will also maintain the Two Scars allies as well. There one ally at this time is Vadrier the alchemist, who has offered the troupe an ongoing contract on future alchemical findings. Kharask will be the sole person involved in handing out the monetary spoils of adventures. (In game terms, phil is in charge of tracking and distributing treasure.)

Azriel - Azriel is the Two Scars official scout. It is his duty to study and memorize maps and areas that they have been, and are going. He will be the map carrier, and will be in charge of plotting courses and journeys through unknown areas. Azriel will be in charge of making sure the troupe is properly equipped for journeys. Making sure they buy proper rations, procure winter blankets, tents, alchemical precautions to certain hazards etc.

Merric - Merric is a Two Scars member. He has no official position, but it is his sole duty to check for ambushes, traps, and for overcoming obstacles. Kharask has noted he has an eye for trouble, and so is going to make sure he puts it to use. It will also be Merrics job to infiltrate new areas and find the best inns, taverns, shops for procuring goods etc. Merric is the least agressive looking of the troupe, so Kharask feels the halfling will have better luck in new towns/cities than most.

Dalanor - Dalanor is the Two Scars official wizard. His advice will be looked to first when dealing with topics of religion, history, and the arcane. Kharask has had some doubts about the wizard in the past, but after recent conversations, he sees that the silver elf truelly wants to contribute in some way to the troupe. Kharask has a feeling that Dalanor has more powerful magics up his sleeve he's not yet used as well, so does not want to overburden the mage, keeping him well rested in case he needs to cast his rituals. (In the future he will also be in charge of supplying the troupe with magic items - at cost of course-)

Erantaelik - The drow is an official member of the Two Scars. The drow will be in charge of deciphering the function of magical items found by the party. He will also be in charge of making sure they go to the party members who will make the most of the items. he will be a second advisor to questions of general magic as well. (J, i'd like you to take over distributing magical items. you have a better sense about it than i do.)

Baerd - Baerd is an official member of the Two Scars.

Ok, thats a run down of the Two Scars company. I'll keep you guys posted as we accomplish quests and adventures.

3rd adventure 5th session

So, the troupe survived its encounters in the Angath Hammerhold. In the end the troupe found a great deal of evidence suggesting more to the Hammerhold, but not enough solid evidence to warrant an excavation of the site. Back in town the troupe split up, with heavy weather covering the land, the party decided to utilize there new found gold to take a break until the weather got fair. Kharask and Delanar delivered an alchemical formula found in the hammerhold. Vadrier was more than pleased, and offered them some coin, as well as Delanar an arcane formula. After this Kharask spoke to delanar of the company he was creating, and offered delanar first seat. The two had a serious discussion, and delanar pledged his name to the two scar company. Kharask spent the rest of his time promoting his new company, asking local vendors, tradesmen and innskeeper to throw information his way on any possible contracts. Kharask then met his fellow comrades at one of the fancier Inns for dinner, and through the course of the night, all previous members of the troupe agreed to join the company, thus founding the Two Scars Company. The new adventuring party did not have to wait long for a contract, as there old friend (forgot his name) a tradesman whom they had helped in one of his travels pleaded Kharask to help him travel up to Wintershome, a ten day trek into the mountains past the hammerhold. Kharask agreed and bargained for a little more coin from the merchant for the trek. The Two Scars then began there escort out of Karan'Has and towards Winter Home, a dwarven settlement. The first two days were uneventful, the weather was fair and the sky was clear. On the third day, during one of there breaks, a group of hobgoblins accompanied by a troll they had captured attacked the party. The troupe met the monsters, Kharask joining the fight late, not seeing the hobgoblins right away. The battle was handled well. The troll was maintained through the efforts of Dalanor's magic, who's fire seemed to quell the beasts healing abilities. Baerd and Azriel kept the beast from moving from its position, creating horrible wounds in the beasts rubbery hide to keep it at bay. The creature was powerful, and raked azriel several times with its powerful claws, but Kharask eventually got to the battle, spurring Azriel on while telling the group to focus on its defense. Merric then tumbled in behind the beast planting a dagger in the back of its skull. Delanor finished it with another spell of fire, then the troupe turned to the hobgoblins. Erantaelik handled the evil humanoids well, using his darkness magic to keep them from attacking while the troll was destroyed. Once the rest of the troupe came to his aid, the creatures were already beleagured. Although they fought well, using organized tactics and hiding behind well made armor, the Two Scars cut them down to the last, and spurred there merchant friend onward past the grizzly scene. The next day was relatively uneventful as well, however, as night settled in and Kharask took to his watch, he had noticed some movement in the bush. Trusting his instincts he called for his friends to wake up, and launched an offensive. The beasts that revealed themselves were just that, A huge wolf surrounded by a pack of smaller wolves. The encounter was handled very effectively. Dalanor used his magics to weaken the foes, Erantaelik used his spells keep them in place while waves of force washed over his enemies further weakening them. Baerd and Azriel took out a group of wolves that had split off, and Kharask and Merric took to a small pack of wolves until Kharask made room for Merric to help out the drow. The battle was swift, and the troupe quickly settled back in to there sleep.

Ok, that was all for the adventure tonight. I'll have more later! =)

Kharask's Heroic Build

Another Kharask related post. Feel free to give me advice on this one!

Well, i've been pouring over the books as of late, as we slowly creep in on 4th level. This is a big level for a lot of reasons, the main reason being that at this point in your characters career you have an idea of how you want his general build to be.

My initial idea was to build Kharask as a 2 weapon warlord, focusing alot on feats such as power attack, dragonblood fury, weapon focus, possibly improved charge. This would fit nicely into the paragon path i want to go with which is Battlelord of Tovik. This is a martial one, but not necessarily bravura. It provides allies with attack bonuses and damage bonuses, grants Kharask a bonus to fear and charm saves, and gives him a number of heavy damage attacks. This type of build makes me happy because it gives me crazy damage and makes Kharask out to be a war beast, which i like. My only concern with this build is that i'm a meta gamer, and i want to make sure i dont get in the way of my character. I dont want high numbers and crazy damage to entice me to play this specific way, and make no mistakes, this build at high levels would put some serious dents on high level creatures. (7 melee basic attacks in one round on one creature, for a grand possible total of 14d6 + 80 pts of damage -rough and probably low estimate on the bonus dmg. and thats not including a critical hit) I like the idea of him being able to kick some ass in a one on one fight if he has too, but my fear is i might make him seem too chaotic. He's supposed to be the Lawful good symbol of stability in our party.

I have another idea, actually chris wanted me to go this route early on, but I decided i really wanted the 2 weapon route. I could go a defensive (off tank) route. This route would probably not utilize the battlelord of Tovik paragon path, possibly using the Knight commander path or one in the Martial power book that is like a chosen of bahamut (I figure chris might allow this to be more of a chosen of Tovik since he's an honorable warrior god.) Anyways, in this direction i would choose his heroic build to bolster his defenses, I figure i could take feats to increase his defense by upgrading his armor proficiency and shield proficiency, and switching his weapon from a Maul, to a warhammer. (Its D10 dmg and one handed, so i'd still get a satisfying crunch from my attacks.) I could take the first paladin multiclass feat which would give him a mark (it does char. dmg to the target if it doesnt attack me on its turn, which would work out) and since my guy is religious to Tovik, the whole challenge thing would work and not seem contrived. The knight commander would also allow me to mark additional targets later on, and with the high armor class i could help Erantaelik if he needed to switch out. This might be better suited for Lawful Good, i'm really torn actually, I really love the idea for both. This one would let chris put magical shields in the game too, which he tells me there pretty bad ass, it would also allow me to tote some of the heaviest armors in the game. (i'd probably try to get my armor to plate, but might settle for scale, and def. upgrade to a heavy shield.)

Well, theres still alot of time to decide, but i'd love some input if you guys have any. THANKS!

Down time for Kharask

Another character post, partly for the players and partly for the D.M. all things mentioned here are subject to change, alteration, or deletion.

Kharask upon his return is going to start his Adventuring Company, the Two Scars. He is going to post that he is currently looking for recruits in case existing members of his troupe are unable or unwilling to join. By start, i mean that Kharask is going to offer the service of the Company to those willing to pay the troupe for some service. He's going to speak with Inn owners as well as shop keepers about his comrades and past exploits, including the slaying of the green dragon which has probably already reached Karank'Has. His troupe will be willing to do explorations as well as raids and escorts for money. Kharask is not greedy, but he needs experience in the field and as a leader, and is forming the company to better himself in those regards, as well as giving some meaning and order to the lives of those willing to join the company. Members will recieve an even cut of all profits obtained through the company. Members will be told that they will be taking place in explorative missions, military missions (if hired by the guards of Karan'Has or other private sources), and excavating missions. Members of the Company will recieve credit for the honor and exploits of the troupe, while those traveling with the company but unwilling to join will receive payment based on the actual findings of the mission, and will be credited as being mercenary help hired by the company during the exploit. Funds and rewards directly related to a mission will only be shared by the members of the company. This company will have several in game purposes, one, it will allow Kharask and the others to obtain a number of viable options for adventuring purposes, so chris our d.m. doesnt feel the campaign is point and click. This will also allow some kind of stability to a very chaotic group, allowing several outcast like characters to find a worthwhile nitch in a very unreliable time. As an honorable person, Kharask will also ally himselves with past employers, using them as contacts and possible contractors for future missions. He plans on using Vadrier as one of his contacts, since its the only trustworthy humans he knows of at this point. Even if Vadrier never needs the Two Scars Company for work, he can tell the troupe where possible work might exist, and also would be a good resource for knowledge outside of what is known by the two mages.

Also, Kharask is going to check up on the boy he and the troupe helped rescue from the imp. He'll do his best to help find his parents, but if the boy is an orphan, he is intending to use the boy as an aid to the troupe, or perhaps give him over to Vadriel to help with his shop.

Kharask is also going to seek out a temple or priest of tovik, and ask that he be forgiven for any insults he made against the fickle god of war. He will offer the temple a longsword (I removed the 15 gold from his total) as a good gesture towards the god. (Equipping warriors with weapons and armor is considered a good deed amongs the worshippers of Tovik.) Kharask also will ask the priest what he might do to better his position with his god. (I took another 15 gold as well, saying that it will go to whatever sacrifice is deemed worthy. Livestock, special inscence, holy oils etc.)

Ok, that should about do it.

2nd Adventure 4th session

I'm going to give a general summary as to this last session, since a great deal took place.

The troupe renewed there exploration of the Angath Hammerhold, finding many things as they went through, a new friend, old enemies, ancient magic, and legendary weapons. There search led them to many encounters, more often than not the troupe faced and defeated ambush parties of Greenscale Kobolds. The adventuring troupe also came across a haunted grave sight used by ancient dwarves. Tainted souls guarded the place, but were put to rest. In the end, the group defeated a group of kobolds who were led by a kobold chieftan, and a blue scaled dragonborn sellsword. They overcame this obstacle, and obtained the item baerd sought before leaving.

Rooms of note -
An ancient and nearly destroyed great hall, which was slightly sunken into water. They met there new friend and fellow adventurer, Merric. The halfling was being held hostage in the room, tied up and stuffed in a large bag. Kharask made a daring rescue, charging to the halflings aid, and throwing the bag over towards Erantaelik who had thrown up a wall of darkness. The room was also memorable because it was one of the few rooms that showed the age of dwarven hammerhold, as well as showing off the lasting work of the dwarves in one area. .

The temple to Moradin - Another eventful room. A huge shrine of moradin with a shrine placed in front of it. The axe we were searching for it was more than likely upon the shrine, but it had been removed. Kharask got a sense of the gods in the room, though they were ever silent. He petitioned Moradin to bless his hammer while he was there, but the dwarven god was mute, as if he had left the place along time ago. In fact, Kharask had a turn for the worse when trying to hit his hated adversary towards the end of the adventure. Kharask feels that Moradin had shunned him for some reason, perhaps having a kinship with bahamut.
there was a seer's pool in a secret area to the back of the room, and although it was an interesting and historical place, it had no real meaning to the troupe, save baerd, who got an enchanted whetstone from it. Again, Kharask attempted to get some attention from Moradin, perhaps in a vision, but the god were unable or unwilling to comply. To Kharask, those rooms could have been the most significant, but ended mostly in disapointment. He's not sure if Baerd held the same sentiment.

The workshop was also a very interesting room for the troupe, mostly because it gave some flavor as to what the dwarves were about in ancient days. Kharask noted that many of there tools and masonry had not changed, and the hammerhold was supposedly created before the great collapse. This had an immense impact on Kharask, though he did not show it. The tools, craftsmanship, and general style of living had not changed for the dwarves in over one thousand years, the race had remained the same and there had been almost no change in them since the time of the dragons born hatching, until the present. To know that a race could maintain its crafts and ways for so long was inspiring, but to see that the race could probably never exceed what they accomplished in the past was saddening.

The mining room was where the final battle took place, its construction was magnificent, and it was the best place for the leaders to set there trap. The room was memorable because it showed off more of the dwarves bridgework which was amazing, since even a small bridge could remain fastened and intact for ages.

I'll give the high points and low points of character encounters and interactions -

Erantaelik - Was extremely useful overall in his exploration of the hammerhold. Although becoming more beligerent and aggravated as the exploration continued he maintained a very effective defensive of the troupe, showing off excellent teamwork in some circumstances. His shining moment was during the rescue attempt for merric, as most of his spells seemed to come together quite nicely, and his wardings seemed to stop most of the most powerful attacks from harming his allies. He was also quite effective against the final enemies, containing and controlling the encounter better than even Dalanor could. His warding saved his friends lives on more than one occasion, and the waves of force he flung from his sword quickly destroyed the opposition. His failing was in his attitude, as it slowly disintigrated as the troupe went on. He also lost a bit of his nerve during the fight with the undead, not only admonoshing Azriel for his reckless behavior, but actually delighting in the predicament that the elf put himself in. Regardless, Erantaelik diffused that situation as well, saving the elves life with some quick thinking, and swift spells.

Dalanor - Maintained a level of frustration that was evident to Kharask. The silver elf used his spells effectively, turning to more powerful blasts of flames against the small kobolds, and although effective, he seemed to be outshined by the drow on many occasions. Kharask can see a rivalry forming between the two, and hopes that it will turn into a friendly one. Still, Kharask has respect for the silver elf, who made himself useful with some of the information he gleaned on there whereabouts. He still does not trust Dalanors instincts, but is starting to see a discernable pattern in his spells, which makes it easier for kharask to work with, at least within a combat environment.

Merric - The new addition. Merric had several shining moments in the adventure, taking the killing blow of the chieftan and of the blue scale dragonborn. More than once the small halfling tumbled behind foes unchecked to plant a dagger in the backs of his enemies. Even when his foes closed on him or harrassed him, he fell back bringing the enemy to his allies. Although he's an obvious ambusher, Kharask respects his daring. He doesnt fully understand his nature yet however, and so does not realize Baerds reasoning for his dislike of Merric.

Kharask - He learned a great deal from his adventure into the Hammerhold. On a religious level he is starting to feel that maybe more than one god had shunned him, and perhaps he needs to turn his full attention to Tovik. Although he respects the gods, and his upbringing teaches him to worship and honor several of the known gods, he wonders if his breaking his connection with his tribe may have also broken those ties. He was also disturbed that the blue scales had made it this far into human lands, but secretly hopes to fight more of them. His hammer never touched his enemy, and he wonders if Tovik was angered with him. Regardless, he honored his pact, smashing the head off of the enemy and offering the victory to Tovik. He isnt concerned that he lost his temper at the end, falling into an obvious trap, but the others know little of his pact, so may see his impulsive behavior in a different light.

Azriel - Did fairly well over all. He handled his interaction with the troupes well, but was overally impulsive on several encounters, nearly leading to his death, and potentially leading others into harms way. Of all the members of the troupe, he seems the most reserved when it comes to his past and personality, so Kharask still has a hard time reading the elf.

Baerd - Got his axe, and hopefully recovered some form of honor. Although beligerent and anxious through most of the adventure, he shined as always in the heat of combat, showing grit and determination through each encounter. Kharask sees him as a kindred soul in some respects, he knows the dwarf is religious, or at least was, and both the dragonborn and the dwarf respect conflict and battle, although for different reasons. Although he didnt have many high points or low points, he has been consistent in his temperment and combat style.

ok, thats it for now. i'm sleepy.

A style of Dragonborn

(Another post of Kharask related stuff. - cant wait to friggin game)

Kharask uses a Maul, a typical heavy hammer used by many of his race. Many Dragonborn warlords and fighters use weapons such as Axes, Mauls and Picks. Kharask started out his career being mostly a defensive fighter, utilizing his great strength to hold up heavy armor and a shield while wielding a heavy mace to deal out considerable damage. This approach changed when he was ten years old, and in a sparring match with a fighter he was speared through his left shoulder with a heavy leaf bladed polearm. The weapon nearly took off his arm, and although it was healed by the mystics, his arm never regained all of its mobility. He then decided to give up a shield, since it would only have limited use, and trained himself to use the Heavy maul. His style is partially unique, but he received his training from several seasoned fighters in his tribe. Many warriors who wield the maul use over handed swings and other arm extensions. Kharask's fighting style involves shoulder to shoulder moves, bringing the damaging end of his maul to his opponent utilizing side to side motion, instead of overhanded motions. He also utilizes forward and downward thrusts with the weapon. His unique fighting style allowed him to develope his "Leaf on the Wind" technique, which Kharask accomplishes by using side to side motions, while turning his own body as he brings his opponent around with the force of his swing. On larger opponents, such as when he faced the green dragon, he uses similar side to side motions to get under foot allowing him to move through his opponent, and forcing it to reposition itself, usually behind him, or risk even more serious injury. When using his "Opening Shove" technique, he utilizes forward thrusting motions. This isnt so much of a jab, as it is a calculated push, where as he carefully positions the mauls head and his shoulder towards the midsection or middle part of his opponent. Kharask utilizes downward thrusts and side to side swings when trying to complete a "Wolf pack Tactics" maneuver. He gets in close, and uses powerful thrusts or swings to catch his opponent off guard so allies can move in to his temporary blind spots. Regardless, Kharask's style of fighting shows his resourcefulness in the face of adversity. To honor the creation of his style, he hand picked the young warrior who had speared him years ago to be apart of his battle squandron. Unfortunately, the young dragonborn who's name was Kretas'Varel, died in there last training mission together, giving his life so the two Dragonborn Warlords could escape. Kretas'Varel's younger sister, Kura'Varel has since taken up the mantle of warrior, and Kharask hopes she has survived the dark times since his departure from the tribe.

Ok, thats my post, i'll have more soon !!
